The Data industry traditionally encourages strong links between commercial organisations and academia. From guest lecturing, to internships, to research posts and incubator spinouts, the lines between what can be two very separate and distinct communities in other industries seem to be blurring more and more every year.

Dr Jasmina Lazić Head of Research and Development, Bigtincan Ltd
Dr Jasmina Lazić leads an R&D team of data scientists, data engineers and software developers to deliver cutting-edge research and build demos and POCs to support Bigtincan business goals and transform the buying experience as we know it today. Prior to joining Bigtincan, Dr Jasmina Lazić was Chief Data Technologist at the Bayes Centre at the University of Edinburgh, where she led the commercial adoption of state-of-the-art data science and technology developed at the University of Edinburgh, fostering new collaborative partnerships and technical engagements between the University and industry.
Jasmina worked with academic and commercial partners to grow and deliver data science and technology expertise across a wide range of industries, from space and satellites, to energy, fintech and healthcare. Before joining the University of Edinburgh, Jasmina held a number of consultancy and advisory roles in the technology sector. Jasmina holds a PhD in Mathematics from Brunel University, UK, and BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science from University of Belgrade in Serbia. She is also an advocate for high-quality STEM education and women in technology.
